Kegel's History

Rock River Chapter of No. Ill. History:

Rock River HOG club was started in February 1988.  The sponsor, Kegel Motorcycle, was located on Auburn Street.  The first club meeting was held in the dining room of small restaurant on North Main St. in Rockford with 29 members attending.  Our first official bank deposit was made in March, and the first club ride was to Highland Park in April of that year.  Dues were $10.00.  In May, we traveled to Bubba's Honda Drop, and in June we joined others in Madison for the ride together into Milwaukee for the Harley-Davidson 85th Anniversary ride and party.  July was the first month for the Hog Tattler and the midnight "Red Eye Poker Run" for many of us.  In the fall, we traveled to Springfield for the races, met in Elk Creek for our first Sturgis dinner, and rode together to Tomahawk for the Fall Colorama Ride/Open House.  By December, we were ready for our first Christmas party.  We ended the year with sixty-six members.  It was a good beginning.

  Past directors were:

Bob H. Phil R. Dana C. Bruce I.  Al D.  Jerry Z.  Ron V. and Tom O.

Now a days (22 years later), The chapter sponsors several charity events each year. Annual charity events include the Great American Biker Jam proceeds which benefit local charities like Goldie Floberg, Also Food Pantry and Toy donations are done during the holidays and in Aug. the No. Il. Charity Run which helps out other local charities.

Although we happily take on charity events, we are basically a social, riding club; the sponsoring dealer and the officers work hard to provide rides and events to entertain the members with the main goal to "ride and have fun." Current annual events include a Bike Show and Poker Run, 4th of July Parade, Camp out and Year End Party. We are always looking for the input and participation of the membership to plan new rides and events for our chapter calendar. Let one of the officers know if you have an idea for a fun event or ride and we'll get to work on it! Happy 22th anniversary Rock River HOG!
